Why Buy a Timeshare in Florida?
One of my friends is just learning how to become a US citizen and is dealing with US immigration in order to get her citizenship. Already, however, she is thinking about buying property — sort of. Following our vacation to Florida, she is thinking about purchasing a timeshare. Her reasoning goes like this:
- Florida is a great place to visit, and can take years to really explore. Even after we spent a few days in Orlando, there were thousands more places to see and visit, and many more attractions to take in. Obviously, it is a sort of place where you can come back again and again and always experience something new. Timeshares allow you to visit again and again, easily and with less hassle.
- Timeshares can save you money. My friend works as an Internet marketing consultant, and while she makes a nice amount of money, you can easily go through quite a bit of money on a Florida vacation. Timeshares allow her to save on the cost of hotel rooms, which can be quite high, especially in the summer season.
- Timeshares are quite flexible. If my friend does buy a timeshare, she can easily travel to Florida whenever she likes. Depending on the timeshare she chooses, she can easily travel one or two weeks of the year, and enjoy knowing that her room is always waiting for her. This will take a lot of stress out of planning her vacation. Plus, she can travel with a friend if she likes. There is a pull-out sofa in many timeshare living rooms for a guest.
- Timeshares are an asset. Depending on the type of timeshare my friend gets, she will have an asset that she can rent, sell, or keep. This will actually help her get a leg up financially and may even allow her to make money in the long run. While she’s reasonable enough to see that she shouldn’t buy a timeshare just as an investment, it is nice to see that her money won’t just be thrown away, as it might be with a hotel room. When my friend can’t use her timeshare or cannot use it, she can rent it to someone else for her two weeks and put the money towards her next vacation.
- Timeshares offer more amenities. I visited some timeshares with my friend in Florida, and I have to say I was pretty amazed. Many of them have luxury amenities, such as concierge services and huge apartment style rooms, with bedrooms, living rooms, and kitchens. Some have saunas, spas, and other amenities in the building. In short, many of the timeshares that my friend looked at – and she was not even looking at all the luxury timeshares — offer more than some of the best hotel rooms. Plus, all that space and all those amenities can actually help save money. Having a kitchen, for example, will help my friend save money every time she visits. Rather than having to spend time and money eating out, she can easily pick up a few groceries and make her own tasty meals at home.
